Tax Forms

Ten years ago, libraries and post offices had piles of tax forms, at least during the winter and spring months. Not any more. Now, more taxpayers than ever before prepare their own tax returns using software such as TurboTax and TaxCut. Taxpayers with software programs have many of their tax form needs met.

Where do you go to get tax forms if you don't have a software program? Or what if you just need a Form 1040EZ for a child? Or a 1040X for a simple amendment? Or a W-4 for a babysitter?

What if you need last year's form? TurboTax is no help there.

Your friendly Internal Revenue Service can help with all those questions, yes, even last year's form. And the forms are fillable and savable too. (But they don't calculate.) You can search by form number, topic index, or keyword.
