Meet Ruth Rounding

Ruth graduated (cum laude) from Harvard Law School in 1976 and not long thereafter moved permanently to Cincinnati. After 30 years practicing estate planning with several major law firms, Ruth established her own firm specializing in that field in July 2006.

Ruth’s clients include individuals needing estate planning, corporate and individual fiduciaries with estate and trust administration issues, and families settling affairs after the death of a loved one. Ruth likes to establish an ongoing working relationship with her clients, rather than work with a client on a one-time basis.

Professionally, Ruth is licensed to practice in Ohio and was certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association in 2003. She was elected a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in 1993 and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1995. Ruth has been recognized by Law and Politics magazine as one of the top 50 Cincinnati Super Lawyers and one of the top 100 Ohio Super Lawyers since 2004. Ruth has the top AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

In addition, Ruth serves on the Ohio State Bar Association’s Council on Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law (which promotes legislation enhancing the field in Ohio), and contributes to the Probate Law Journal of Ohio.

Ruth’s community involvement includes current or past leadership service to the Cincinnati Nature Center, Fine Arts Fund, Junior League of Cincinnati, Pro Seniors, and Harvard Club of Cincinnati.

Ruth's daughter, a University of Virginia graduate who served with the Peace Corps in Cabo Verde, West Africa, is studying international education policy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her son, who graduated from UVA's McIntire School of Commerce, is an analyst at an investment bank in New York City.

In the course of her family’s years at the University of Virginia, Ruth has learned many things about, and from, Thomas Jefferson, including,

“In matters of principle, stand like a rock.”
